Since the final product of the project will never be produced testing will have to be done on the model and drawing of the final solution. The most effective way to do this is to not on evaluate the design yourself, but have and expert evaluate it as well.
Exploratory tests:
Exploratory tests:
The exploratory test for this project will take place in the brainstorming process. The designs will all be thought through and basic layout questions will be considered. The layouts will all be logical and feasible.
Assessment tests:
Assessment tests:
Assessment tests will be used in order to decide on a final solution. Each potential solution will be assessed in the criteria provided in the specifications and limitations of the project. A design matrix can be used to compare these assessments and determine which solution is the best fit.
Validation tests:
The final solution will go through a validation test in order to ensure that all design goals are met as stated in the design brief, and also that the specs and limits are met as well as possible.
Comparison tests:
Comparison tests will be conducted throughout the design process. They will be used to compare the solutions to every problem faced in the design of the marina to an alternative solution which is being considered. This helps to ensure that the best solution is implemented.
Testing Procedures:
1. Set up a meeting with a specialist who is familiar with green marinas, and one who is familiar with how marinas are run.
2. Introduce the project to the specialists in a presentation. Give an overview of the project, and include the design brief, specifications, and limitations. Also go over the design process explaining how you arrived at the final solution
3. Using the model, explain the marina design and how it works. Explain traffic flow, how the parking areas are structured, materials, etc. Also explain the changes which make the marina “green.”
4. Ask if the specialist has any questions concerning the design or how it works. Make sure they completely understand the the project, as well as your solution.
5. Ask the specialists to check the final solution against the design brief, spe
